Description

Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases by using context clues, analyzing meaningful word parts, and consulting general and specialized reference materials, as appropriate.

This is a resource to help teach the language standard 4.5  Time is of the essence and I wanted to create something where kids could do more exploration of the standard during our Daily 5 time.

This unit focuses on the Legislative Branch of the US Congress as created by the Constitution of the United States in 1788.  The goal of this unit is to create an in depth understanding of how this body was created and many of the important features that have helped it thrive over that past 200+ years.

This unit will introduce students to literature written about the  Puritans' morality and beliefs.  Teachers will find many interative activites and resources to help students  comprehend the challenging texts.

Students will be able to access books that are at their current reading level using the website raz-kids.com.  The site can be used both at school and at home.  When on the site, the students will hear stories, record themselves reading, listen to their recording, and answer questions to help with comprehension.

This unit was developed to provide some online experiences for 2nd graders to improve reading fluency and comprehension for the variety of reading abilities common in a lower elementary classroom.  With a minimal amount of instruction, students have the opportunity to access leveled reading texts, monitor their own reading, and have the ability to have appropriate leveled texts at hom
