Formative is great for elementary students as well as older students. Formative allows teachers to ask a question of students and see their individual responses in real time.   

Socrative allows teachers to poll students, give quizzes and check for understanding in a simple to use platform. Students go to a web address where they log in their answers. Socrative has a built in exit ticket to quickly gauge student understanding.

Quizizz is game-ified formative assessment tool that allows students to proceed through questions at their own pace. There are options to include a leader-board, music, customizable memes that pop up to give feedback.

Kahoot uses bright colors, suspenseful music and updated rankings throughout its quizzes to create a game-like atmosphere. Questions and answer choices (displayed as color and symbol choices) are projected on a classroom screen, and students respond on personal devices.

Nearpod is an interactive presentation and assessment tool. Teachers create their own multimedia presentations or find one shared in the Nearpod library. Teachers can control the timing and interact with students as they move through the presentations, viewing responses as they are submitted.

An online community for teens and young adult writers to share their writing, reading the work of others, and collaborate in groups to gain new ideas.

Pixlr Editor is a web-based photo editing application. It’s kind of like a lite version of Adobe Photoshop that is free and web-based.

Actively learn allows a teacher to annotate published readings (articles, papers, etc.) with questions, comments and related media. The primary purpose is to scaffold reading in ways that add context and support for developing readers. You can import an internet article, google document or PDF.
