This is a writing assignment designed specifically for the special education setting. It involves having the students watch a high-interest video with teacher supported discussion. Students will use the information from the video along with three informational articles that they read. One article is provided for them.

This is a unit I designed for an argumentative essay. I teach this unit every year but wanted to enhance it with more technology. When using this unit, teachers take on a facilitating role while students take on the task with feedback from peers. Students will be able to move through each step of the writing process at their own pace as well.

Students explore plot elements in fairy tales. Through whole class student engagement strategies, students analyze and complete a plot diagram for a fairy tale of choice. Peer collaboration is embedded with partner and group sharing.

WeVideo is an online video editor that students and teachers can use to capture, create, view and share movies. It is a good alternative to iMovie for non-mac devices and access from shared devices in general.
