With the switch to NextGen Standards there is a lot of investigations, science skills and data collection imbedded in the science curriculum. This is a great lab to start the school year and introduce students to proper measurement skills. I use this investigation to set the standard for what I expect with measurement.
This is the first lesson building up to the science fair. This lesson is designed to introduce students to collecting data, drawing conclusions and writing scientifically with content that is not intimidating or difficult. In the beginning of the year this is also a great way for students to start to get to know one another.
