This mini-unit is a designed for a middle school environment, teaching students about having a growth mindset and not a fixed mindset. The unit discusses the difference between a growth and a fixed mindset and allows students to explore these ideas through a variety of individual, partner, and group activities.
This unit takes teachers and administrators through the steps of the Collaborative and Proactive Solutions developed by Dr. Ross Greene. It is a new and innovotaive approach to discipline in our schools.

This mini-unit is part of a much larger content focus on Linear Functions in an 8th grade Resource Math class. Students will be learning about the basics in functions and their use in Pre-Algebra. This unit allows students to receive direct interaction with teachers to receive content in a managable format, while giving them opportunities to learn and discover some of the content on their own.

Students in English Language Arts and Science classes will learn how to identify and locate credible resources for research projects through databases on the media center website and Google searches. Lessons will be delivered face to face, with online presentations and videos through Google Classroom.
The lessons in this unit are designed for students to extend beyond the very short time frame given in library media center orientation. Students will learn about media center resources and how to locate them. Lessons will be delivered on Google Classroom to allow students to access them at their own pace.

Students will define, explore, and learn how to embody grit in various aspects within and outside of schools. The process of of how famous figures (Will Smith, Usain Bolt, and others) have put in a lot of work in order to make what they do look easy.

In this unit students will be exploring the neurological science behind how the brain can grow. They also will be looking into famous examples of growth mindset, language to use surrounding growth mindset, and how to apply the growth mindset to every part of life, especially school. The unit includes a daily planner and a link to resources.
