Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform.

Affluenza: An in depth look into consumer culture, its causes and effects (an interdisciplinary unit)

In this introduction to our larger interdisciplinary unit entitled, Affluenza, we attempt to answer the question “What is happiness?”  through writing in journals, reading multiple and varied texts, and assessing what makes us happy by thinking about where our happiness really comes from. All of these activities have students practicing self-reflection and identification of theme across texts and within their own lives.

Learning Targets:
Students will be able to identify theme across different texts making cross text and personal connections.
Students will demonstrate their understanding through journal reflection, interactive commenting and discussion with other students both online and in person, and through a final summative paper.
