Biomes (Desert)

Description: 

A look into the Biome the Desert, one part of a larger lesson covering all the Biomes.  Looking specifically at the plants, animals and climate in different deserts around the world.

Learning Targets: 
Identify the Biome of desert when given a description of the climate.
Identify the Biome of desert when given a list of animals that live there.
Identify the Biome of desert when given a list of plants that live there.
Be able to describe the Biome of desert by creating a virtual representation.
Demonstrate the differences between the desert and other biomes by using a comparative graph.

What concepts or procedures are being explained or demonstrated in this lesson object?

What are the distinguishing factors of a desert.

What was your experience, both successes and challenges, using this lesson object with your students?

I have not used this specific lesson yet.  When done with no online components it was difficult for students to get a hands on look into what the biome was actually like.  I am hoping the Planet Earth Series will help with that.  

I did do the creation of the biome and some students used online resources and they seemed to be very engaged, however when some students used Minecraft there was a way to use pre-made things and also other people were able to destroy there work.
