Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform.

Creating and Solving Linear Equations and Justifying Steps

This unit will cover solving equations, including justifying the steps to those solutions using mathematical properties.  It also covers creating equations and using them to solve problems.  There is a link to a Google Doc that is the planning document for the unit, and it contains links to resources mentioned.  While this lesson does not yet contain loads of online resources/practice/content, it does offer lots of variety in terms of content presentation and student practice.

Learning Targets:
Solve linear equations that have one variable in them.
Explain each step in solving simple equations. Use properties to justify the steps used.
Create equations containing one variable from a word problem. Solve the equations in order to answer a question.
