Status message

Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan (link is external) on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform (link is external).

Socrative

Description: 

Socrative allows teachers to poll students, give quizzes and check for understanding in a simple to use platform. Students go to a web address where they log in their answers. Socrative has a built in exit ticket to quickly gauge student understanding.

What We Like:

  • No student sign-up needed
  • Option for team competitions, called Space Races
  • Pre-created exit ticket
  • Export student results in a number of ways
  • Multiple question types, including multiple choice, true/false, graded short answer and open-ended short response
  • Share quizzes with other educators
  • Grades quizzes and provides percentages
  • Can use for quick, on the fly quizzes or custom-made assessment
  • Allows the option for teachers to include an explanation for incorrect answers
Limitations: 
  • Student results are not connected from one assessment to the next
  • It has limited whole-class displays
  • Lacks advanced data features
