Test Review Day Worksheet

Description: 

Students will review how to rationalize the denominator, graph polynomial functions, write exponential growth/decay functions, use rules to re-write log and natural log expressions, use synthetic or long division to divide two polynomials, and how to graph a log function.

Students have learned all of this information throughout the unit, and now they are putting it all together in this review day.

How is the concept or procedure explained or demonstrated?

We have been practicing these procedures throughout the entire unit. Students will have to identify which type of problem it is (log, natural log, dividing polynomials, etc) and then remember the steps for solving it.

What concepts or procedures are being explained or demonstrated in this lesson object?

Students will need to determine what type of example they are dealing with and what rules or steps they will need in order to solve it. I tell students to always check the denominator first to see if it needs to be rationalized for any of the problems.

What was your experience, both successes and challenges, using this lesson object with your students?

Successes - this is a great chance for students to review before the test. They could ask questions, check answers, and gain confidence. Challenges - the students do very well in the day to day lesson. However, when everything is put together, there are a couple students who struggle to distinguish what rules to use and what steps to complete. I would suggest having students doing the problems they are confident with first, and then work with them on what concepts they are struggling with. They will know how to do some of this!
