Unit Review - Points, lines, plane, segment, ray, vertical angles, linear pair theorem, two column poof of vertical angles theorem

Description: 

Students will review what they have learned over this unit (basics of geometry, proofs, etc). They will do 3 review stations, and then they will participate in a power-point game using their white boards and markers.

Learning Targets: 
Students will be able to identify a point, line, plane, segment, and ray
Students will be able to solve equations using vertical angles and the Linear Pair Theorem
Students will be able to write a two-column proof of the Vertical Angles Theorem

Completion of the review sheets Answering the questions on the power-point (check their whiteboards)

Student prerequisite skills and knowledge

Students should have learned everything that is on the review sheets. Students should be able to name a line, point, segment, ray, and plane. They should be able to solve equations using the idea of vertical angles and Linear Pair Theorem. They should be able to write a two-column proof of the Vertical Angles Theorem. They should be able to find the complement and supplement of an angle.

How is the concept or procedure explained or demonstrated?

The culmination of all the lessons in the unit lead up to this review day. Students will have a chance to demonstrate their knowledge by written and spoken words.

What concepts or procedures are being explained or demonstrated in this lesson object?

Students will be working together and checking with the people around them while working on the station worksheets. This will allow them to recall things they may have forgotten. The concepts will also target the visual learners through the power-point game. It is more interactive and allows them to see the content in a different setting.

What was your experience, both successes and challenges, using this lesson object with your students?

Successes - students work well when they are moving every 15-20 minutes from station to station. They like working with their friends and often times they work harder than they would normally. The power-point game was also a great way to have them keep doing math but in a less stressful way (give the winner candy or a prize). Challenges - you will be walking around and managing the whole class period. Since they are in groups, they need a lot of redirection and so you as the teacher need to stay on top of this and also put a timer on the board so they know how much time they have until they will switch stations.
