use these quizzes to make sure students are learning vocabulary that often shows up on the AP exam for AP Language and Composition and in readings on the SAT. Also, to slowly integrate rhetorical schemes and tropes into their repertoire.

The first year that I taught the schemes and tropes, I did them all at one time and it was a disaster. Students need to learn these terms in small chunks and have practice with them to be successful.

I give them these quizzes, to force them to learn the terms, but as we do readings in class, I expect that they are able to identify them and annotate for them as we build our list.
