Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan (link is external) on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform (link is external).

Weather - 1st Grade

he Weather Unit guides children through a yearlong study of weather. Children observe, measure, describe, and record aspects of weather such as temperature, air, wind, and clouds; practice using tools to measure weather; and look for weather patterns. The unit provides a number of experiences that offer children a connection with the weather in their environment. In the process, children learn that weather is an important, dynamic, and sometimes unpredictable part of nature.

Learning Targets:
Patterns are discovered by observing, measuring and graphing weather over time
Water, in its many forms, plays a role in the weather
Air/clouds play a role in the weather. Clouds play a role in the weather and can be identified by their features
Differentiate states of matter and precipitation (water)
A meteorologist observes, measures, describes, and records the weather
