Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan (link is external) on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform (link is external).

Unit

This 7th grade Nutrition Unit focuses on parts of the Michigan Model Curriculum. More specifically, students will learn information about the USDA My Plate guidelines, how to track calories, read food labels, make healthy choices, and much more.

Students will uncover what pieces of evidence scientists have for evolution. Students will get to see how many pieces of evidence fit together to give scientists clues about earth history and evolution.

I envision this being used in a self paced, blended, rotation setting, where students switch between learning lessons online and trying them out real life on the robot.  This is the first unit in my robotics course.

This is a unit I designed for an argumentative essay. I teach this unit every year but wanted to enhance it with more technology. When using this unit, teachers take on a facilitating role while students take on the task with feedback from peers. Students will be able to move through each step of the writing process at their own pace as well.

Students learn food vocabulary, restaurant vocab. and phrases, mealtime and food culture, and grammar as it pertains to food and eating.

After learning about how a community functions and looking at how our local community works on a day to day basis.  Students work together to create an imaginative community including all the elements that make a community run smooth.  Students will use Google Draw to learn how to "draw" a house on a chromebook for the mural as well as using Kahoot!

This blended unit introduces students to linear inequalities and systems of inequalities. Students will algebraically and graphically verify solutions to linear inequalities and systems of linear inequalities.  Instruction and practice will be provided via Khan Academy.

This month’s unit focuses on exploring various options of living as independently as possible.

This lesson will help students understand the differences between living and nonliving things.  Students will learn to ask 6 quesions to determine if something is alive.  Students will learn what things living things must have to survive.
