Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan (link is external) on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform (link is external).

Unit

Throughout the school year, student have studied the five regions of the United States. In the culminating project, students will be assigned a state to report upon. Students will be required to include detailed information about their state, including (but not limited to) descriptions of:

  • The state’s geography and natural resources

Throughout the year students will learn about important United States of America symbols, events, and holidays. Students will investigate the importance of recognizing national holidays, symbols, events, and people that are valued and celebrated in the United States of America.

This is a unit plan in which students will work in small groups and use technology to research different topics related to a class novel, Pictures of Hollis Woods by Patricia Reilly Giff.  They will then use this information to create a Google Slides presentation to share with the class.  This “We-Search” activity will be structured as a jigsaw.

This Unit focuses on early man and how we know that he/she existed.

Understanding characteristics of quadratic functions and connections between various representations, tables, graphs and equations, are developed in this unit. The symmetry of the function values can be found in the table, the graph and the equation.

In this blended unit, designed for 5th grade, the students will explore colonial life in the North America during the 1700s before the American Revolution. They will investigate the various perspectives of the groups of people living in the colonies during this time. They will also explore how different aspects such as economics, location, and beliefs effected the lives of the people.

This is an outlined unit of Romeo and Juliet. Many of the activities can be placed online (Prezi) to achieve the same success. There's an abundance of Quick Writes and Focus Questions that I didn't specify in the unit. These too, can be placed online for blended learning.

Making success more attainable through the formation of an identity that musters the gumption. Through this identity, students will start to analyze how to achieve long-term goals.

People are more productive when executing a plan developed to achieve a goal. Students in this unit will develop an understanding of what self-control is and learn how to cultivate it inside the classroom and outside, both for academic and personal success.
