This lesson details the sequence of steps and the techniques used to form a hand built ceramic coil pot.It is designed to be used as a reinforcement to in studio instruction and demonstration at the high school level.

This unit was developed to introduce basic multiplication skills to third graders.  Students will have an opportunity to use technology to learn basic facts.  Games, on-line assessment and self check quizzes are apart of the unit.  I have added getahoot.com so students can practice learning their facts in a fun way.

Students will learn about ancient art and civilizations including ancient Rome, Greece, China, Egypt, other various regions of Africa, Native North America, Polynesia, and Native Central/South America. In groups, the students will research one of the cultures, create a google presentation, and then present their culture to the class.

he Weather Unit guides children through a yearlong study of weather. Children observe, measure, describe, and record aspects of weather such as temperature, air, wind, and clouds; practice using tools to measure weather; and look for weather patterns. The unit provides a number of experiences that offer children a connection with the weather in their environment.

This unit is an introduction to plagiarism for elementary students.  Also included are some note taking strategies, as those help students avoid plagiarizing. It covers two 60 minute lessons. This unit is best used preceding a research project.

As part of their ELA coursework, students are reading an autobiography to study author’s craft.  In particular, students are exploring how authors use dialogue, transitional phrases/clauses, and sensory details to tell a personal story. The unit will culminate with students writing their own memoirs. The bulk of the unit takes place in the ELA classroom.

This is a German unit on restaurants and food.  Students will explore restaurants in German speaking countries via a virtual field trip.  Students will be able to identify the different types of eating establishments and the types of food and drink typically served in them.  Students will master food vocabulary and cultural nuances associated with eating out in Germany.

A unit focused on the ways language and style impact narrative. Students will look at what makes a "good" story, what makes an "effective" story, why we tell stories and what purposes storytelling might serve, and how diction and style are an essential part of storytelling.
