Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan (link is external) on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform (link is external).

5th graders will explore human impacts on the environment though class discussion and will take an online quiz to evaluate their own "ecological footprint".  We will then examine some of the larger human impacts and what communities do to help.

This integrated literacy and science unit guides students through a cooperative learning webquest in which students work in groups of 4, completing different jobs as part of a "company" that is designing a trip to one of the planets in our solar system.  Each job requires students to research and create some sort of written out-put (travel brochure, essay, or diagrams with descriptions).

This is a blueprint for a blended unit on matter for 4th grade. It incorporates f2f labs and discussion, reading of texts, and online resources such as video clips, review games in Socrative and Kahoot, and lots of use of Google apps. There are options for differentiation worked into the unit to use as needed. It is a work in progress and has not had a trial run yet.
