Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan (link is external) on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform (link is external).

Mathematics

In this unit you will find 7 lessons to cover the standards for the foundations of multiplication in the second grade. I use the rotation model of blended learning in my classroom, so you will see a description of the activities the students will complete for each lesson. The second graders have a focus on creating equal groups and arrays and writing matching repeated addition sentences.

This unit is designed to teach addition and subtraction with regrouping to second graders. It includes links to online resources, videos created using SMART Board, Educanon and Plotagon. Links to sites are included to provide support to different learners, and activities were selected to develop the language needed to explain the steps in the algorithm.

This discussion board is designed for an online discussion. It is meant to be an introductory activity to get students to start discussing what a slope means in a "real life" scenario.

This is designed for an online discussion board. the students watch a commercial where "and is definitely better" and then go on to describe their own "and" and "or" inequalities. Their classmates respond to the posts using discussion prompts

This project was designed for an Algebra 1 online course. The course still is designed to teach slope, even though this standard is now technically taught in the 7th and/or 8th grade. The intent was to design a project to get students to see slope in a different manner, using percent grade change of hiking paths.

The purpose of this activity is for students to use their developed knowledge and creativity to create their own system of linear inequalities. Students also collaborate in an online discussion, where they have the opportunity to graph their classmates’ systems and share what they’ve learned.
