Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan (link is external) on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform (link is external).

Project

Students will interactively learn about the angle relationships including corresponding, alternate interior, alternate exterior, vertical, and same-side interior angles. They will learn which pairs are congruent and which pairs add up to 180 degrees (only assuming the lines are parallel). They will also have their first encounter with a transversal and how that fits into the equation.

Students will review how to rationalize the denominator, graph polynomial functions, write exponential growth/decay functions, use rules to re-write log and natural log expressions, use synthetic or long division to divide two polynomials, and how to graph a log function.

For this project, students will show they understand plot, tone, and theme by creating an imovie that summarizes their book and theme while matching the music they create in Garage Band to the tone of the different parts of the book. The end project is similar to a movie trailer, but it summarizes the entire book.

This activity will have your students locating another person who is a member of an interest group and interview them about their association with that group and its effectiveness in affecting policy. This type of an opportunity will really help your students grasp the prevalence of interest group memberships and investigate the effectiveness of these memberships.

This activity will help your students to analyze polls prior to letting them sway our opinion on an important topic. Your students will gain experience in recognizing how newspaper articles often cite results of polls to gain our attention or sway our opinion. This important activity will afford them an opportunity to be more discerning when consuming different forms of media as well.

Various forms of media can be used as powerful tools in an attempt to sway our opinion. For this project your students will produce a 30 second sound bite video that utilizes one or more of the propaganda techniques. They will attempt to sway the classes' opinion on a topic that they have a strong opinion on by way of this brief sound bite.

This learning object will give your students an opportunity to think critically about the bill of rights in real life situations and leverage technology in such a way that they can learn in a fun and engaging way. The students will begin by studying the Bill of Rights at the link below, then the class will play the Kahoot Quiz online using any digital device with an internet connection.
