Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan (link is external) on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform (link is external).

Fine Arts

This unit will help students to understand basic watercolor effects so they can create an artwork with the theme Power. Students will be exposed to artists who create art to communicate life experiences to influence society. The research will serve as inspiration for own artwork.

Students will learn that artists use many different techniques, styles and materials to make works of art and that in our society the line between what is considered art and what is not can be a rather fuzzy one. Student will then make an artwork using traditional or contemporary materials to show personal style in an artwork.

Students will learn about the history of typography then take that knowledge and working in groups, research a variety of fonts from their assigned decade.  They will then chosen a font that most reflects that decade and recreate it using their choice of material to make a collaborative Decades Heading.

Students will create a menu, design food images, and translate food items into Spanish.

For this project students will be doing a self portrait, painting it, then finaly applying shading using sharpie marker.
