Dear LOR user,

Thank you for being a big part of this community. To better support the initiatives around open educational resources in the state of Michigan, all resources on the Michigan Virtual Learning Object Repository (LOR) are being moved to #GoOpen Michigan on September 30th, 2018. During the transition, our LOR will be moved to an archived state, not allowing new user registration or new content to be added. An email with more details was sent to registered users of the LOR in September. To make use of the great resources on the platform, we encourage you to create an account and add your own new resources to the #GoOpen Michigan platform.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSA.CED.1

Create equations that describe numbers or relationship.

Description

Create equations and inequalities in one variable and use them to solve problems. Include equations arising from linear and quadratic functions, and simple rational and exponential functions.*

Calculating time, distance, and speed of falling objects.

Grade:

Understanding characteristics of quadratic functions and connections between various representations, tables, graphs and equations, are developed in this unit. The symmetry of the function values can be found in the table, the graph and the equation.

Students will learn how to write linear equations to describe phenomenon.  Students will also learn how to solve equations in multiple steps including equations that have no solution or infinitely many solutions.

This unit will cover solving equations, including justifying the steps to those solutions using mathematical properties.  It also covers creating equations and using them to solve problems.  There is a link to a Google Doc that is the planning document for the unit, and it contains links to resources mentioned.  While this lesson does not yet contain loads of online resources/pra
